Discovery

In our FTC team we discover new ideas, and experiment by doing different things, for example when we are learning CAD we explore different websites where we get our parts.

Innovation

We use creativity to solve problems and we also persevere until the task at hand is done. For example if we have a class that ends at 8, and we are not done we stay in class and finish the work. We are also creative using different techniques and methods to solve problems. We also experimented by leveraging different techniques. In CAD when we tried to import a slider it would not import correctly but then one member told us a different way to do it which he figured out by trying different things and playing around with the Software.

Impact

We use what we learn in our FTC class in the real world. We use the techniques in our day to day life at school, for example we recently had a 3D printing unit in school, and because we already did CAD during FTC classes we were ahead of the game and we knew how to do different things like grouping, and aligning. We are also learning Java which impacts and helps us in the real world. For example we are learning that different types of machines around us are not just some magical creatures that run on their own but they are really actually running on lines of code which we are learning to do and make ourselves. Java also helps us in the future if we want to pursue a career in coding but it is also good to just know these things because it could always be useful some time in life.

Teamwork

We also show teamwork, for example when one person is having trouble solving a problem another team member jumps right in and helps them in their work. We also vote for different decisions we need to make, and we make sure that everyone's voice is heard. Another thing we do is that we make sure everyone gets the help that they need, and we do not just leave them by themselves to figure it out, for example we sometimes do individual break-out rooms where team members pair up to finish their task at hand.

Inclusion

Our team is tight and we all know one another, and respect each other. In our FTC team we all include each other in all of the areas so that everyone can gain experience. We all have our own separate roles in FTC but we all come together and learn all the different roles that there are. For example only one of us here is going to be the CAD expert but we all came together to learn it and even worked together to design our own robots.

Fun

We also have fun which is another core value, for example after we finish all of our work we sometimes talk and goof around. We also have a concept where when you help someone, or do a good job in class you get a star. This is a fun concept that we have in FTC and it also makes the team members work harder as they compete against one another to earn a star.
